Notes:

 

    Sections 272 through 287 are the offence creating sections of CEPA. Section 272 makes it an offence to contravene the Act or regulations or an order or direction made under the Act or by a court.
    Section 283 of the Act provides that a defence of due diligence is available for all offences except s. 228 (obstruction of enforcement officer), s. 273 (knowingly providing false or misleading information) and s. 274 (intentionally or recklessly causes a disaster).
