| New Summaries The paper Developments in Canadian Maritime Law 2007-2008 is now available for download here. The paper also includes a synopsis of the truly significant developments for those who like the readers digest versions. The various pages of the site have been updated with the new summaries. Navigable Waters Protection Act Bill C-10 contain various amendments to the Navigable Waters Protection Act. Those amendments can be found here. Rotterdam Rules The Rotterdam Rules, the new Convention for the International Carriage of Goods Wholly or Partly by Sea, are expected to be signed in Rotterdam this coming September. Transport Canada is currently seeking input as to whether Canada should adopt the new Convention. Transport Canada has prepared an Information Paper on the new Convention which can be found here. Bill C-7 Introduced Bill C-7, An Act to Amend the Marine Liability Act, received First Reading in Parliament on 29 January 2009. The Bill contains many significant amendments including: creates a special exemption for "Adventure Tourism" from the provisions of the Athens Convention; creates a special priority lien for Canadian necessaries suppliers; creates a general three year limitation period; and, implements the Bunkers Convention.
